The last couple of years have been a little bit exhausting for me. I burnt out on 2019 and received the year of 2020 feeling exhausted and then, you know what happened in 2020…

Needless to say, when I was creating my 2021 resolutions I decided that this year is going to be a year of FOCUSING on one thing at a time. With that in mind, I made just one resolution for the year and it’s the one I haven’t been able to accomplish on past years: to start reading again.

I’ve always loved reading but on busy periods of my life I just don’t read anything because “I don’t have time”. One of the things I’ve learned in my 20s is that when you want to make something a priority, you make the time.

So this is it. I have decided to read 1 book a week. I know, it sounds like a high standard goal but again, it is my only 2021 resolution.

I officially started on February 1st so I am 3 weeks in with 3 books completed, and I am taking YOU on this ride as my accountability buddy, to give you book recommendations & thoughts along the way. If you’d like to take the challenge on a personal level, send me a message on the form below and let’s connect! Keep reading for my thoughts on each book (spoiler free).

For my challenge, I started reading a Cliterature series ( the Cross series – 6 books) which I found to be very engaging 😏😉 Here my thoughts (spoiler free):

Book 1 – Bared to You (completed)

Trope: Innocent girl falls for troubled man, millionaire man, erotic. If you are into 50 Shades of Grey you’ll like this book. Young professionals.

I think it’s a 50 shades of Grey kind of romance less the sub dom relationship. It’s a bit cliché and the guy character lacks depth for my taste (maybe to give you a bit of mistery) but there’s just something about this book that didn’t let me put it down. So I went and read the second book.

Book 2 – Reflected in You (completed)

Trope: Innocent girl falls for troubled man, millionaire man, erotic. If you are into 50 Shades of Grey you’ll like this book. Young professionals.

This one is a bit more romantic and engaging because you already know the characters. I can’t imagine how the story will keep going for 4 books more though son I am intrigued. I have no intention to put it down either and I will read book 3. I keep my thoughts about the characters and I feel it’s not a realistic relationship but you know, it’s a romantic novel.

Book 3 – Entwined with You (completed)

Trope: Innocent girl falls for troubled man, millionaire man, erotic. If you are into 50 Shades of Grey you’ll like this book. Young professionals.

This is my favourite one so far. I know, I am already invested but, this one is the most romantic yet and also, it brings in some suspense which I always enjoy.

On another note, I swallowed my words with this book because there are not so many clichés compared to the first two. The characters and their romantic relationship are starting to feel more real and there was a lot of smoking sex to read through. I am already starting book # 4 Captivated by You. Come back next Wednesday for my thoughts.
