I once mentioned that even if you are committed to your skincare routine, you put on the right products and you never skip taking off your makeup, if you don’t use your sunscreen everyday, then you are letting all go to waste. All the care and money you spend on your skincare becomes worthless if you don’t protect from the sun. Sun damage is the number one enemy of your skin, more than the food you eat or the amount of water you take.
Now, sunscreen must be worn 365 days a year, no matter the season but, as Summer brings always the best outdoor activities for us it’s when you must be more careful to wearing the right products, even when you are using uv protected makeup.
Believe me, I know how tedious can be to apply your makeup on top of your sun lotion. Most of the times, sun lotion formulas are not made to be worn with makeup, and those that are intended to work with makeup are usually in the lower SPFs. Remember that dermatologists recommend SPF 30 at the very very list.
For my face, I don’t usually use anything under SPF 50. Please note, adding up different products with UV protection DOES NOT add up to a higher SPF. So be mindful when choosing a sun sun lotion, layering other products with SPF won’t do harm but it doesn’t give you more protection.
Below you’ll find my top 3 best sun lotions that I currently use under makeup.
1. CANMAKE Tokyo Mermaid Skin Gel UV Sunscreen SPF50+
This sunblock is the best one I’ve ever tried, at least so far. The formula is so light that feels like a primer, absorbs really quickly, doesn’t leave a white cast and it has some subtle shine in it that I am obsessed with!
The downside: it is ridiculously small! It comes in a 30 ml presentation and that’s it. Fortunately it is very affordable so every time I get it, I make sure to order 2 or 3 at the same time but feel terrible about the packaging yikes!
*** Mermaid Skin Gel comes in 2 shades: Clear and White. I have only tried the clear version.
2. PURITO Comfy Water Sun Block SPF50+
Well, this one was too good to be true…
I had written about this sunscreen in my glowing skincare routine post. Sadly, a few months later this same product was shelved because of something called the PURITO scandal. Click here to read more abut it.
Now I am almost done with mine and sad that I won’t be able to get it again but I am looking forward to trying Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40. The internet says is a great replacement for Purito and if that’s true this is a great one too. High expectations with this one.
3. The Ordinary Mineral UV Filters SPF 30 with Antioxidants
A lot of people don’t like this sun lotion because it leaves a white/ grayish BUT I find this sun lotion gets absorbed after a few minutes. It’s not the best option for darker skins but the price point and the fact that doesn’t clog my pores makes it worth it for me.
The Ordinary Sun Lotion comes only in SPF 30 for now, I use this one when I know I’ll stay home the entire day.
I hope my sun lotion tips help you find a right match for you. Sun lotion – Makeup pilling is a real struggle for skincare junkies so I cross my fingers so one of these products help you cut the chase.
Really helps undertanding this field.
Interesting article, the skin is the largest organ of the body, it is vital to take care of it.
