YAYY! Screaming out loud because this, my favorite seasonal post is back on the blog.
Before we start talking about fashion, how are you feeling about this quarantine time? If you need to reach out for help or out of boredom, message us at IG @andreita.tropical. We will love to chat about anything and well, I am bored too 🙂
Right when this pandemic started, my favorite time of the year passed by: Fashion Week, this time showing collections for Fall/Winter 2020.
Even though Toronto’s FW was canceled (not a first), I thanked technology for letting me enjoy “The Big Four” fashion weeks in the comfort of my home. Did I say I love technology already?
After analyzing the runways of high fashion designers, I have put together the upcoming trends for Fall Winter 2020 (which I think we’ll apply sooner than later thanks to the delicious quarantine).
A must say, individuality has been valued more and more on the latest times (the millennial influence) so putting these trends together becomes a broader job each season.
There is a style proposition for each kind of girl and I am loving it. Brands are learning not to stick to one style and try to reach the individuality of the viewers. It could be a little compromising to their brand image but I am loving the future of fashion as it’s pushing creatives to be even more open-mind. I will try to be as broad as I can at identifying what I believe will be adopted by the public.
Remember trend reports are a compilation of what’s seen on the runway which ends up being the trends for the upcoming season BUT just a few of these trends are actually adopted by the masses. This is the best way to predict trends but they are not stone-written just because they were seen on Fashion Week.
Fashion weeks serve as a proposition of looks from the best creatives in the industry, you decide what you like and what to adopt from them.
FW20 Trends
Pastels for Fall
More than once, I had to double-check if I had mistaken the runway show for Spring Summer 2020 because of the number of pastel outfits I was seeing.
Usually, Fall-Winter colors are on the PSL side with lots of camels, emerald greens, reds, and mustards but this season featured lots of pastel pinks, greens, and light baby blue outfits. Shocking!
Evening gloves
But now, for the casual everyday look.
This is definitely a trend I will be adopting myself, it is different, it is low key sexy AND it helps with Canadian Winter as well. What else can you ask from a trend?
We saw these gloves in any color, material and shape.
Trapeze Shaped Garments
This shape is not an easy one to pull off, especially if you are short and curvy as me but we can’t deny how cute and classy it looks! The key to wear this style is to use a piece as short as possible.
Capes
Back and strong, capes are a must-have for the Holiday season. We saw them on long dresses, coats, trapeze mini dresses and more.
All White Looks
After white was a major hit in boots last season, the “no white after labour day” rule is being broken once again this season with a great array of all white looks. I love this trend, what a better colour to match the snowy city of Toronto than an all white look.
Fringe
This season fringe was introduced as never seen before. Most of the looks featured suits with fringe skirts which makes it wearable for day and night.
Modern Preppy
Making a preppy style your way has never been easier. This season presented such a variety of preppy styles, from a hippy kind of preppy to a more gender-neutral style.
TIES WERE ALSO SPOTTED IN ALMOST EVERY RUNWAY!
Shiny Latex Pieces
Rubbery tops, boots, leggings. You name it! One item I crave for the season: latex legging-boots!
THE ITEM I AM CRAVING FOR FW20: LEGGING-BOOTS!
(at least that’s how I call them, I couldn’t find an official name for them)
Innovative Cut-outs
Another trend we’ve seen before and all girls love. This trend lets you be creative, no cutout is out of this equation. You can take them as far sexy and daring as you want or use them in a clever way to keep them low key.
Asymmetrical Pieces
We saw this trend at the Oscar’s red carpet trend report. As this trend is fairly easy to replicate, I think anyone and everyone will be using asymmetric garments.
Hopping you enjoy this post.
