It all began when my IBS flare-ups started lasting longer, and I began experiencing random hives on my neck, scalp, and chest. I’ve been dealing with IBS for five years now, and I thought I had it under control… or so I believed.
Something wasn’t adding up because I’ve become much stricter with my diet, more physically active, and more conscious of how I react to trigger foods. However, something still didn’t add up because my body was now overreacting in ways I hadn’t seen before.
So, I began visiting doctors, and they all told me that my hives were yeast infections on my skin. They mentioned that it’s quite common in the summer and that many people get them. But for someone who grew up in tropical weather, this explanation didn’t make sense to me.
So, I started my research and discovered that if you have a yeast infection anywhere in your body, it could be indicative of a yeast infection in your digestive tract. And guess what the common symptoms are? They are surprisingly similar to IBS: bloating, gas, constipation, or diarrhea, chronic fatigue, low energy, brain fog, and more.
Could it be that I’ve been confusing my IBS with Candida Overgrowth all this time?
A few years ago, when my gastroenterologist was testing for celiac disease, lactose intolerance, and more to determine the root of my symptoms, I recall the last test I had done was a SIBO test, which checks for Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth. How is it possible that it didn’t show Candida overgrowth back then?
Well, I have now discovered that the SIBO test is designed to detect and diagnose bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine, not candida overgrowth.
I found a natural treatment for Candida overgrowth commonly recommended by naturopaths and I decided to try it on.
The 14-day Candida Cleanse program I am currently using
I am now halfway through this treatment, but let me tell you, it’s been quite a journey. I have experienced die-off symptoms and even got what feels like the flu (or maybe it’s the Candida flu? I’m not completely sure). I’ve been in pain, hungry, and bloated this past week, and I can’t wait to share how much better I feel in the future. However, for now, I wanted to share what’s been going on in case this post reaches someone who has been diagnosed with IBS but suspects there may be more to it.
As always, I will keep you posted and share whether the CandiSmart Cleanse has made any difference for me.
