You have probably spent more time at your bed than in the last quarter of 2019. I sure had. This quarantine time has been perfect for me to re-evaluate my daily routine and daily habits to improve in any way possible and to get myself ready for post-quarantine AKA real life?

As quarantine activities, I’ve reorganized my makeup drawer to make my daily morning routine faster once things get back to normal, I’ve read the label on my skincare to switch harmful products, switch my hair products (by Gisou, a review I am preparing for another post this week) AND changed my pillowcases.

As I’ve mentioned in this previous post, I haven’t been happy with my beauty routine lately despite the pretty well-reviewed skincare products I own.

Many times, getting new products is not the solution.

We often try to purchase the best beauty products but we forget about the daily habits that are having a long-lasting effect on our hair and skin.

Did you know that your pillowcase material has a huge impact on both of them?

It seems not that big of an issue but cotton fabrics are harsh on your skin. Sleeping on a cotton or polyester fabric gives you lines in the morning, dries your hair, and irritates your skin. Well, you spend from 6 to 8 hours daily rubbing yourself against this fabric!

Another important thing you need to know is that satin and silk pillowcases have pretty much the same benefits but there are 2 important differences: price and environmental impact.

Silk pillows are made of natural fiber and are 10 times more expensive than silk pillowcases. As this article mentions: “Silk reduces friction on our skin so there is comparatively less chafing, dryness, and redness when our bodies come in contact with it. And since pure silk is made from natural silk fibers, the protein filaments make it hypoallergenic and great for sensitive skin.”

I ended up buying satin pillowcases because, well, it was cheaper. There are plenty of sites online that talk about its benefits so instead of listing the same information here I am going to give you my personal opinion after 3 weeks of using them.

Face: I have noticed that my rosacea has greatly diminished! Here a few pictures for your reference:

BEFORE (AFTER A REALLY BAD SLEEP)
AFTER (AFTER A REALLY BAD SLEEP TOO LOL!!)

Remember to wash your pillowcase once a week for better results on your skin.

Hair: brighter and way way less tangled hair in the mornings. Pictures for reference:

BEFORE (DULL AND FRIZZY HAIR)
AFTER (LESS FRIZZY AND MORE SHINY HAIR)

I bought my pillowcases at Amazon on black colour (my favourite) but they have plenty of shades, I am listing the links for you below:

These ones looked pretty nice too:

And if you are looking for silk options, these are the ones that caught my attention:

Thanks for reading!! Stay safe.
