En el sendero / On the path

I recently heard someone who has been involved in more tourism in Panama than me called it “the best spot in Panama”, this person has only seen this place in pictures. I had the lucky chance to visit this place and the best I can say is that the pictures don’t do justice to what it is in real life.

This lagoons are located in Sajalices, we got into the path from Intermericana Highway. You will need to walk for 2 hours, the path has it’s difficulty but if you follow it you shouldn’t get lost. I am very sorry that my directions are always so simple but when it is in terms of hiking directions doesn’t exist. Usually you carry “your personal guide”, someone which has been in the destination before and knows the path or if you are an intrepid kind of person you may take an address like the one I gave you, get to the place and ask for the locals how to get to your destination.

Usually locals eagerly show you which path to follow (99% percent of the times) EXCEPT for this location, in Sajalices they will call the police :O

Pitifully it is not all rosy in life and every beauty has it’s cost. This springs have remain virgin because THE VISITS HAVE BEEN BANNED by the ANAM (National Environment Authority in Panama for those who do not know).

WHY WHY WHY? Because these springs became popular for visitors and started to get dirty because of it. Also this water is so pure that locals actually drink from this springs. #LiterallySpringWater

And in this moment you may be grumbling (YES, I googletranslated that) wondering why did I make this post if you won’t be able to visit this place. Simply because this is the kind of places we are screwing as we are not being able to take care of them when we visit them and although I feel it’s unfair to be banned for a place like this in your own country (as it belongs to us and everybody has the right)  we might actually deserve this.

Thanks for reading me.

  1. Wow what a gorgeous view and I mean both the writer and the scenery. My tropical love you are my muse and inspiration, jungle eyes, lush neon soul, play with me, dance with me because we move along, the speed of the light.
